Water conditioner in Ice-cream Shop “Gelato mio”

Industrial laboratory of ice cream with all water-cooled chillers; the cooling water is brought then to remove heat into an open tower.

The cooling system is inadequate because in the summer season the refrigerating machines do not reach the optimal temperatures of exercise, often fails due to occlusion of limestone, the cooling tower is infested by algae.

Every year they perform a costly and damaging acid descaling.

Test Method:

Disabling the softener installed previously to treat replenishing water of the tower.
Installation of an electronic unit for diam.60 on pipe recirculating water coming from tower and going to the cooling machines.

Total replacement of the cooling water and monitoring the electrical conductivity of the water.


In November, despite the cold and the rains are particularly intense, and so despite the reduced production of ice cream, in 10 days the water conductivity is increased from 0.6 mS to 2.9 mS sure sign of the dissolution of Limestone deposits inside the circuit.
